I mainly write horror and crime novels. My books have also included selections of short stories and currently includes two series; "Vampire Lies," and "I, Serial."
I enjoy the outdoors, but mostly I enjoy writing. I try to write every day. I also try to read a new book every month or so.
I have 3 children. My oldest son, Christopher, lives in Seattle with his wife. My daughter is a biologist. My youngest son passed away at 28 years old. He was much too young.
I live in a quiet west Texas town, on a small farm with my wife, where I raise a small herd of livestock and a much-too-large flock of chickens.
I'm an army veteran who served in combat in Iraq on 3 tours.
These days, I'm in my mid-50s and enjoy peace away from the "real" world. I create my own world every time I write, a world in which my son is still alive.
I'm currently reading, "Total F*cking Godhead the Biography of Chris Cornell," by Corbin Reiff. I will update this each time I start reading a new book.
I'm not critical of any work other than my own. If a musician, writer, sculptor, or painter, creates something that he or she is pleased with, that is all that counts. It's not my place to judge someone's work with my own biases and preferences and determine whether or not I believe that work is "good." Only you know if you accomplished what you set out to accomplish. To quote James Hetfield, "Nothing else matters."
I don't have specific genres or arts that I prefer over another. I enjoy music of all types and styles; grunge, punk, metal, acid rock, classical, speed metal, bluegrass, Texas country (Red Dirt), and classic country.
Likewise, I also read multiple genres, from science fiction to nonfiction to biographies, autobiographies, westerns, horror, and thrillers.
Always believe in yourself.
