Dr. Betty Mandell retired from her work as a clinical psychologist to publish the novels she wrote alongside her career in Columbia, South Carolina, where she is surrounded by family, friends, and good food. Raised in Denver, Colorado, she established her passion for the outdoors hiking the high peaks in the summer and skiing in the winter. Betty’s nature photographs grace many walls in Columbia. Betty graduated college in 1957, and by 1969, she had completed her doctorate in psychology while raising four children. Dr. Mandell has had several short stories published in a local publication. She also published several articles on managing stress and authored Mind Matters, a monthly column for the State. The newspaper column ran with a circulation of 175,000 from 1988-1989. Betty has frequented writers groups, attended a romance-writers workshop, and enjoyed book clubs.
