My spiritual journey began in high school when I felt a strong call to the ministry. I was impacted by my involvement in a large, active youth group at my church in Salinas, CA. Then, at my confirmation someone gave me a card with the words from Romans 8:14 written on it, “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” That verse really touched me. Who or what was the Spirit of God and how does the Spirit lead us? From that day forward, I can’t remember ever considering any other vocation.
After graduating from UC, Berkeley in 1953 with a degree in Religion, I went to the General Theological Seminary in NYC. However, I continued to wrestle with the burning question about how we know and experience God. Early in my ministry in California, I gathered small groups of clergy to discuss the work of the Holy Spirit, the unknown member of the Holy Trinity at the time. The book, "Revisiting Pentecost," contains the answer to my basic question.
After completing the book, I began working on the way we live with the Spirit in a book titled, “Our Dance With Grace: Spending the Day With God," available May 2022.
