Daniel Couch is Associate Professor of English at the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he teaches eighteeenth- and nineteenth-century American literature. He holds a BA and a PhD from UCLA, and has held fellowships at the McNeil Center for Early American Studies, the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, the Huntington Library, and the American Antiquarian Society, among others. His writing focuses on the intersection of literary arts and political issues in the years after the American Revolution. He is currently at work on book-length project examining the history of literary characters in America from 1770-1830.
