As a senior research fellow I co-wrote a number of academic books on people who have learning difficulties. Some had left long stay institutions to live more independently, some were parents who were bringing up their own children, some had had their children removed from their care. I also interviewed a number of grown-up children who had been brought up by parents with learning difficulties. These books are available under my name and those of the co-authors.
My novel ‘Eastern Shadow’ is my first attempt at writing fiction and I couldn’t believe how the two main characters took over the writing of it. So much so, once I’d finished, they insisted I continued with their lives and I have now written a sequel, ‘Riding the Dangerous Wind.’
