Shelly Tygielski is an author, philanthropist, social activist, and community organizer. She is the author of Sit Down to Rise Up and co-author of How We Ended Racism. She founded Pandemic of Love, a global grassroots mutual aid movement, and was recognized as a CNN Hero for her work. Shelly is also co-founder of Partners in Kind, a social impact company and foundation focused on storytelling, entertainment, philanthropy, and social change. A trauma-informed mindfulness teacher and former Garrison Institute Fellow, she has been recognized by Mindful magazine for her work in the mindfulness movement. Her work has been featured by CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post, CBS, and other media outlets. Shelly earned her bachelors degree from the University of Miami, her masters degree from Columbia University, and her doctorate in Philanthropic Leadership from Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.
