In December of 2015 I retired from a very rewarding and interesting career as a design-build mechanical engineering & construction executive. A half dozen years before that, my wife Judy and I decided to rescue a cat from our local animal shelter here in Cave Creek, Arizona. We were not sure about it because before we relocated twenty-one years ago from our home on five wooded acres in Maryland, we were "dog people" always having two - three dogs running around inside and outside our house. Never gave cats a thought. I had plenty of experience writing technical specifications and legal documents, but I never thought I would ever attempt to write a book. Especially a Children's Book - about a cat! After enjoying our little rescued tabby cat for some twelve-years, we lost her to illness. I held her in my arms while the Veterinarian tearfully eased our cat out of her pain. It shattered me. After a year or so I still could not shake off visions of my last moments with her. Then I thought "why don't I write her story for children to enjoy"? Maybe I could even find a way to deal with her passing so that others that lose beloved pets might use her story to relieve their pain. So now I am done. The therapy worked for me. The story of this happy, loving and comedic little animal is out there. As for me, If I find that children actually enjoy my first book, I might try another one.
