Mr. David Mugun

David Mugun is a management consultant and publisher in Kenya and has authored 10 books. He is your typical left-handed creative who also runs market-niche-specific magazines. He runs a weekly blog aptly named Nervy Twists. The post caters to the reading needs of senior executives across the board.

David believes that gifts are often hidden in one's weaknesses. This was the case for him and his earlier writings. He wrote well-structured compositions in school but bad spelling stole his thunder and cost him heavily in English and Biology — both of which required correctly spelt words to earn top marks. David then turned the pain into purpose and confronted the weakness at every level including helping out his bosses with their board papers way before his time came to report at the board level. The results are now evident in all of David's published work including in The Standard — East Africa's oldest paper, and The Daily Nation and its sister papers — The Business Daily and The East African.

David is a graduate of Business Administration and also a golf-playing amateur interested in making useful acquaintances whenever opportunities present themselves.

His diverse background is the key strength to his approach to all matters in life. A father of two teenage children, and a man with time to mentor or share knowledge with people of any age.

David started as a salesman in the office automation industry long before the proliferation of social media and smartphone technology. A 10-year sojourn in insurance and 5 years in banking prepared David for the uncertainties of the world that we live in today. He has served as Director for Executive Education at Kenya's leading university Business School — Strathmore and has served on company and member-based association boards. His Business consultancy has now run for a decade during which time, he has been well-exposed to organisations of all shapes and shades.

A key work highlight for him was getting a client's systems and processes ranked as top in the world by an independent consultant of the engaging bank. This banking multinational required all service providers in its real estate vendor list globally, to attain and apply certain standards driven by fitting processes. David says: "we put our client high up on the bank's favourite list". And this client has now gained much more business from the bank.

For over 10 years, David has also trained employees and executed management consultancies for renowned corporations on the back of his over 20 years of work experience.
