I'm a Business English teacher and author and I help adults to learn the English they need to work, play and travel. My students need to communicate across cultures, build relationships and most importantly get things done. Professional commuincation across cultures is the goal.

I’ve written many popular Business English course books for Oxford University Press and Pearson, which have sold millions of copies and won major awards.

I’m particularly interested in:

business, technical and professional English

improving spoken English skills and developing confidence when speaking

pragmatics and sociolinguistics

cross cultural communication

British and American English

English as a lingua franca

I'm British by birth. I grew up and spent much of my working life in the UK, but I’ve travelled widely. I've worked in Japan and Algeria, and delivered training workshops to other English teachers in Europe, the Middle and Far East and South America. For the last twenty or so years, I've lived in Philadelphia, USA. So now I can speak American English as well as British English. (Ha! Well sort of!)

And something else. I have a YouTube channel. I publish videos for ESL students every two weeks on different features of English.
