Andrew Woodrow

Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Andy 'Woody' Woodrow enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1982 and reported to the first of four assignments to the Physiological Support Division (PSD) in 1983. During a 33-year career as an aerospace and operational physiologist, Woodrow served in ten assignments including three overseas tours and dozens of worldwide temporary duty locations in support of the SR-71 and U-2/TR-1 aircrew. As if by some grand plan, he navigated through PSD at all levels, from Airman to Commander. His professional experiences span myriad test and evaluation of the human capacity to environmental stress; from depths of 165-feet of sea water to altitudes over 75,000 feet, plus hundreds of aerial flights in fourteen different aircraft including the U-2. He is a lifelong learner, a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, a Fellow of the Aerospace Medical Association, and past-President of the Aerospace Physiology Society. He holds graduate degrees from Boston University and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and is a graduate of Air War College. In his encore career, Woodrow teaches aerospace science and loves to explore the Pacific Northwest with his devoted wife of 39-years near their home in Vancouver, Washington.
