William D. B. Holt writes about the lessons life gives us — in boardrooms, relationships, performance, reinvention, and the unforgettable stories we survive to tell.
William is an author, speaker, executive coach, mentor, and storyteller whose work explores how life itself teaches us to grow. For more than four decades, he has studied human behavior through the lenses of leadership, psychology, coaching, communication, performance, and personal transformation.
Since 1984, William has coached, trained, and advised leaders and teams in major organizations around the world, including Chevron, Toyota, Bank of America, Bechtel, Unilever, BP, and leading financial-services companies. He founded the Meta-Institute in Northern California and later co-founded InterAction US, helping to bring practical coaching and leadership development work to executives and teams across multiple countries.
Before becoming known as a master coach and mentor, William worked for Time and Life magazines in Chicago and Amsterdam, then spent a decade as a singer and actor in Chicago and New York. That unusual combination of corporate experience, psychological insight, performance artistry, and real-life observation gives his writing its distinctive voice.
Whether writing about coaching, leadership, relationships, personal growth, or the lessons hidden inside unforgettable life stories, William’s central message remains the same: life is always trying to teach us something. The question is whether we are awake enough, honest enough, and courageous enough to listen.
