Derek DeCosta

“Derek DeCosta was born on April 23rd 1971 as Yoon Sang Kyun in the village of Uijeongbu, South Korea where he lived a privileged and happy life. At just six and a half years old, he is sent into adoption to America in an effort to hide the shame of his parents divorce. During each day of the 8 year captivity by his adoptive mother and her teenage son, Derek is savagely beaten, broken and molested. He finds his courage to finally escape at age 14.

He will spend the next several decades transforming himself from a student to a soldier to fighter and finally, an educator. Today he has a flourishing wellness practice, teaching clients of all ages in the physical and spiritual arts. Derek has committed his life to inspiring and educating all he can on finding true freedom within themselves.
