Kadesha Powell

Kadesha Powell is an Amazon #1 Best Selling Author and Award-Winning Finalist of the 2021 Best Book Awards sponsored by American BookFest. In her debut memoir, Growing up Joplin, she shares about the trials and triumphs of being one of a few African Americans raised in a small, predominantly white, Midwestern town.


Kadesha co-authored Queen of Bahia, with Erica B. Davis. The romantic suspense is a part of USA Today and Essence Best Selling author, Naleighna Kai’s Queens of the Castle series.

She is currently writing a Christmas screenplay, as a student of the Propath Screenwriting cohort.


Kadesha has one son and two bonus sons. She lives in Maryland with her husband, Abiola, and Yorkies: Tookie and Auggie Boy. She also loves to travel and has visited over fifteen countries.
