Writer, documentary producer, film programmer, Massimo Benvegnú began his career as an actor, technician and musician in the making of short films and theatrical performances, then in 1997 he wrote the first monograph in Italian dedicated to Australian director Peter Weir, which was followed by an essay on Michael Cimino and the curatorship of an encyclopedia dedicated to the Star Wars universe.
Among the various awards, in 2010 he won the Haghefilm Foundation Award and in 2014 he became an honorary member of the Cinémathèque Française.
He teaches at the University of Udine and at the National Film School in Rome.
