Dr. Steve Kopecky was born in San Antonio Texas. After graduating from Trinity University, he attended the University of Texas Medical School in Houston followed by internal medicine in cardiology training at Mayo Clinic. Being fascinated by the heart, he always wanted to go into cardiology but developed cancer his senior year in medical school. But 14 years later, while on staff at Mayo Clinic, he developed another cancer, this time more serious with lung metastasis. Also, now faced with two cancers by age 40, a wife and three young children, he realized he needed to change his lifestyle to stay around as long as possible. With the knowledge of a physician he has learned the key steps to living longer and staying healthy. With the experience of a patient, he has written a book aimed at people who want to do the same.
