Matthew Hayes

Matthew Hayes is a paintings conservator in New York, where he directs the Pietro Edwards Society for Art Conservation. His research interests include the history of conservation and technical studies of works of art. Past publications have considered the philosophical implications of the transfer of paintings, Alois Riegl’s conservation theory, and the painting technique of Titian and of Botticelli. His book The Renaissance Restored appeared in 2021.
