Susanna D. Stark

The Serbian author Susanna D. Stark writes children’s and young adult books in various genres. In her youth, she devoted herself primarily to poetry, through which she expressed her inner world—sensitive verses that already bore the early traces of her poetic voice.

It was only many years later, in 2014, that she turned to children’s literature, opening up a new world full of imagination, adventure, and surprising characters. Her stories are colorful and multifaceted; they transport readers into extraordinary worlds and inspire both young and adult readers with a sense of wonder.

Alongside her work in children’s and young adult literature, Susanna D. Stark also began writing prose for adult readers. In her novels, she explores the tension between historical reality and the inner world of her characters—between myth, memory, and human destiny.

Among these works are:

“The King’s Letter”, a poetically told historical adventure and coming-of-age novel,

“The Legend of Skeleton Island”, a maritime fantasy adventure rich in atmosphere and inner transformation,

“The Untouchables”, a sweeping family and social saga with mysterious, almost mythical undertones,

and “The Shepherdess”, a darkly symbolic fantasy narrative about longing, driving forces, and the shadowed spaces of human nature.
