It is more than half a century, since 1969 when the author (S. K. Gupta / Shashi Kant Gupta), enfaced with the esteemed readers, started practicing Zoology (Fish & Fisheries) as a Post-Graduate student at the alma mater DAV (PG) College, Dehradun (now in Uttarakhand, then Uttar Pradesh, India). This practice led to his Professional life as a Teacher in a Post-Graduate College, imparting higher education in District Banda, Bundelkhand, Uttar Pradesh (India). The prestigious Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru College was that stepping rung of his Teaching Career there, lasting for about 30 years w.e.f 1971 until 2000, when the services were got Transferred to the same alma mater place, DEHRADUN, but in the sister College of DAV, the DBS (PG) College, on account of unilateral transfer facility by the then UP Govt. The destiny destined serving the ‘home place’ during 2000 to 2010, a period of rendering services to the elite class-oriented families of DEHRADUN, a famous English Medium education hub. Definitely, this was a different experience as compared to teaching the poor & less educated-class of Bundelkhand region.

The author’s earned experiences of long professional life are divisible into pre- & post-retirement phases. The pre-retirement phase was not only devoted to intense teaching but also to doing D.Phil. (1982), publishing research papers, writing articles in Hindi as well as English, carrying-out minor or major Projects etc. The post-retirement phase has also not been stationary / static / resting phase. To quench the thirst of presenting something before the academia, a septuagenarian ‘Teacher’ is still busy with doing more and more creative, constructive and rendering services to the ‘Subject’, Zoology in general and Fish & Fisheries in particular.
