Robert N. Wiedenmann

Rob Wiedenmann is Professor Emeritus of Entomology at the University of Arkansas. He received a B.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, and a Ph.D. in Entomology, both from Purdue University. He was a Research Associate at Texas A&M University and then worked at the Illinois Natural History Survey, focusing on biological control of insects and weeds. He then moved to the University of Arkansas where he was Head of the Department of Entomology. After stepping down from administrative duties, he taught the large-enrollment class, "Insects, Science and Society," which was the genesis for the book, "The Silken Thread." He is a Past-President of the Entomological Society of America and an avid birder; his vocation of entomology has taken him to places where he could practice his avocation of birding.
