Robin Varnum holds the rank of Professor Emerita at American International College in Springfield Massachusetts. She taught English at AIC for many years, and from 2006-2016 she chaired the college's English department. In 1992, she completed her doctorate in Education at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Her first teaching job, in 1972-1973, was for the U.S. Peace Corps at a girls school in Ghazni, Afghanistan. She is married and has two daughters and (so far) three grandchildren. She enjoys hiking, travel, reading and writing. She supports the quest for world peace, the responsible stewardship of the environment, and the effort to strengthen both human rights and respect for cultural diversity.
