Dennis Michael Royalty decided early in life to become a newspaperman. The goal became reality, first at Indiana University's student newspaper, then as a sportswriter, and then on to 27 years with The Indianapolis Star as a reporter, state editor, city editor, features editor, bureau chief, and columnist. I share life experiences including those as a journalist in my first book, "Tips and Tales: An Indiana Journalist Reflects on Craft and Career." I've been gratified with the positive feedback I've received about the book, which includes memoir-like chapters mixed with chapters of writing and editing advice. While the book is based on life in Indiana, its themes are universal. Dennis and his wife, Ginger, are retired and live in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
