Nicole Benedicto Elden

Nicole Benedicto Elden, Psy.D. was the Assistant Director of Student Counseling Services, The CUNY Graduate Center for 12 years and continues to supervise there and is also a CCE supervisor for Long Island University's Psychology Doctoral program. Currently, she is in full-time private practice in NYC and Westchester County, NY. Her therapeutic approach is integrative with a strong focus on multicultural humility. She has been trained in psychodynamic/analytic (interpersonal/relational), cognitive behavioral therapy, emotion focused therapy, dialectical behavioral therapies and family systems. Her interests include cross-cultural and minority identity formation, couples and parenting, family or origin issues, adjustment to life transitions, intergenerational trauma and the immigrant experience. She has been involved in research in psychotherapy techniques and graduate student development and supervision and has worked in various settings including college counseling centers, city, state and research hospitals, government agencies and community centers and nursing homes.

Dr. Benedicto Elden is a 1st generation Filipina-American who immigrated to the US as a teenager. She is the first in her family to obtain a doctoral degree and is proud to have the opportunity to help and mentor/supervise graduate students throughout their journey, particularly graduate students who hold marginalized identities. She has presented on various mental health and identity-based topics throughout the years in many different settings. With this book she is very proud to add editor and author to her accomplishments.
