Evert Bleijenberg MBA

Evert Bleijenberg was born and raised in The Netherlands. From a young age he showed remarkable insights in complex future developments. He also showed a broad interest in many scientific areas, including nature.

Evert has worked for about 20 years in senior management of international Telecom and IT companies. He started his career in 1984 at Philips Telecommunication & Data Systems. In 1996 he became the General Manager EMEA for Space Systems Loral. Later he worked for companies like KPN, IBM, France Telecom, Intelsat and in 1999 he became Director Operations at Global Metro Networks. He is one of the people who stood at the cradle of building the Internet infrastructure. With his own management-consulting company, he supported numerous medium-sized technology & innovation organizations.

In 2002 Evert decided to reduce his management activities and follow his passion. He became a professional underwater wild-life cameraman. He traveled the world from Micronesia to the Galapagos and participated in a several documentaries about the state of our oceans. During one of these trips he encountered a bait-ball, an enormous school of ten thousands of fish that seemed to act as one organism. Through this experience he (re)discovered the phenomenon of natural self-organizing systems: Swarms. And almost immediately he saw the benefits this behavior could have in human organizations. Evert identified a unique set of principles that facilitates this behavior and combined them into an innovative model for creating future-proof organizations. In 2020 he published his book SWARM Organization and immediately drew the interest of several strategy & organisation scholars and futurists. Anno 2022, Evert is a regular guest speaker at Nyenrode Business University and many international business leaders gatherings. In the same year Swarm Organisation found its first life application.

Evert is a MBA graduate of the University of Groningen, Insead in Paris and the Wharton Business School in Philadelphia, where he focussed on Strategy & Innovation. His professional life revolves around thinking about strategy, organization, technology, innovation and sustainability.
