Ruut Demeo

Ruut is a Finnish-American author and singer-songwriter based in Baltimore. Raised traveling through Europe with her missionary mother, Ruut learned English as a teenager and discovered storytelling and music as both refuge and calling. A pivotal departure in her early twenties from the evangelical community in which she was raised set her on a creative path that has shaped her life’s work. Now a full-time artist, Ruut also runs a nonprofit supporting women creators. When she’s not writing or making music, she can be found wandering the woods with her daughters and border collies, and building spaces where women’s voices can take root and rise.
