Hi, now where do I start? Well, I suppose the beginning is a good place. I grew up on a family farm, in the south of England. I left the family farm to seek my fortune, at the age of 20 (well that didn't happen!). I have always worked on the land or with it, so have always been close to nature and my love of all things wild gave me inspiration for a lot of the stories. I also love the idea that there is another world that is magical and that perhaps they are watching us, and sometimes like to cause mischief, for that in itself would explain why some things happen when they cannot be explained.
I have always loved storytelling, especially folk tales and the stories told in folk songs and have even been known to sing them too! I have read most of the traditional folk tales from around the world and always found them just a little bit outdated. Long ago you probably needed to frighten children not to go into the woods, especially if the folk tales came from Europe or anywhere else in the world where there were still wolves, bears (lions and tigers, oh my!) and other such things that would have been dangerous for children. I wanted my stories to be more uplifting and to explain the reasons as to why things are the way they are. I tried writing years ago but never really had the time to get them down on paper (I have many children!), then as my children started having their own children, (the Grumplings), I felt that I just had to get all the stories down that were going around and around in my head.
And that is really how it all happened, and with thanks to Amazon, it has been made possible for me to publish my stories so I can share with the world my vivid imagination.
I have now started a second book. It will be more new folk and fairy tales. Yay, it's out!
Great news! From the forest they came, and The wind charmer, are now in hardback!
I am now reading my stories on youtube just type Ant marks and you will see me and that's my channel.
