I'm a whale lover, environmentalist, and someone who enjoys traveling to nearby and distant lands. These passions combine in page-turning suspense stories--beginning with my debut novel, Blue Song.

I grew up north of San Francisco but thanks to my 'dear old Dad' was introduced to other cultures early on. At age twenty, I left for Santiago, Chile intending to stay one year but stayed six. I am as passionate about South America, particularly Chile, as I am about whales. In 2018 I visited Patagonia (Chile and Argentina), Chiloé Island, and the Sacred Valley region (including Machu Picchu) near Cuzco, Peru.

I moved to the Oregon Coast ten years ago. My passion for whales led me to become a volunteer with the Oregon Parks seasonal whale watch program and become a member of The American Cetacean Society. I have been on many exciting whale-watching trips, including San Diego, Maui, Newport (Oregon), and--to date the most exciting trip--an eight-day excursion with the Marine Mammal Institute (Oregon) to visit the friendly gray whales in San Ignacio Lagoon, Baja. I not only had the opportunity to pet whales, but when one spy-hopped next to our boat, I had a chance to look eye-to-eye in to this amazing creature's soul.
