Diane Cameron Elam

Diane Cameron-Elam is a writer, actress, and musical artist championing environmental justice through the arts. She has earned a bachelor's in environmental science and a master's in environmental policy and management. She uses her academic background and natural creativity to write children's stories, plays, and songs relating to good earth stewardship. She has over 20 years of acting, teaching, and coaching young people of all ages in summer camps. She has performed in FAME, the musical Big River, Prelude to a Kiss, Midsummers Night Dream, and Steven Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along and was nominated for Best Actress in August Wilson's Piano Lesson. Her young reader's book, Trash Tawkin, debuted as a play in the Hilton Head Earth Day Celebration. It is the first collection in a series of future literary works. Originally from Chicago, Ms. Cameron-Elam is also an international vocalist, having performed in Tokyo, West Africa, South Africa, and the United States. Former Governor Bob Riley of Alabama signed two Congratulatory Resolutions on her behalf in her capacity as the International Artist in Residence to the Republic of Benin, West Africa.

Her third book, UNSTRUMMED, is scheduled to be released in

April. It is the fictional story of Carter Sims, aka; Cotta Blue, a Blues Guitarist/Singer-

Songwriter from the Mississippi Delta set in the 1940s. Before his debut tour, he was falsely

accused and sentenced to 20-years in Parchman Farm Prison in Mississippi. Follow the story of

his short rise in the Delta Blues Circut, his fall, restoration, and eventual redemption.

The story tells of his journey to freedom and the opportunity for another chance to perform and

sing. Still, in 1960, a changing world changed, and so is Cotta. He is just one of the Delta

Bluesmen, now aged and ailing, who never got their due. This book is a tribute to all of the

& Cotta Blues I cant help but think this story is true for someone still living in the Delta, in a

nursing home, or living alone; you will never be forgotten.
