Gary Scarpa

I am a lifelong resident of Shelton, Connecticut where I enjoyed a lengthy and fulfilling career in secondary education as an English teacher and a guidance counselor. Along with my wife, Francesca, I founded a non-profit theater in Connecticut in 2005. After retirement from both education and theater, I reinvented myself and began doing something I had always wanted to do —writing fiction. STILL LIFE is my third novel.

I love writing “coming of age” fiction because I feel the era when I came of age, the late 1960s and early 1970s, was a revolutionary and important time period. The music and the culture of the era is provocative to say the least. I find revisiting the era through my characters to be profoundly cathartic.

I am a great lover of good literature, visual art, and, of course. music. Besides writing and reading, I enjoy playing piano and guitar as well as meditating.
