Susan Friedman is senior director of publications & content development at NAEYC and the lead editor of Developmentally Appropriate Practice in Early Childhood Programs Serving Children from Birth Through Age 8, Fourth Edition as well as coeditor of Each and Every Child: Teaching Preschool with an Equity Lens. Susan has extensive experience creating content on: how play supports learning; developmentally appropriate practice; developmentally appropriate approaches to media and technology: the integrated curriculum; teaching to support all domains (social and emotional, cognitive, language development, physical) and many other education topics in multiple formats (books, periodicals, digital) for both educators and families. She is particularly interested in representing educators in the content she develops and in working with teachers as authors and content contributors. She began her career as a preschool teacher in New York City. She holds degrees from Vassar College and the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
