Farok J. Contractor

Farok J. Contractor, Distinguished Professor of Management and Global Business at Rutgers Business School and author of ten books and over 150 scholarly articles, holds a Ph.D. (Managerial Science and Applied Economics) and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School, as well as two engineering degrees, M.S. (Michigan) and B.S.E. (Bombay). A Fellow of the Academy of International Business (AIB), a worldwide association of 3,500 academics and consultants, he is also on the AIB Board, serving as President-Elect (2020–2021) and President (2021–2022).

Professor Contractor’s research focuses on key issues in International Business, such as corporate alliances, emerging markets, outsourcing and offshoring, valuation of intangible assets, the technology transfer process, licensing, and foreign direct investment. He is the recipient of a Silver Medal for the number of contributions to the Journal of International Business Studies, a leading management journal, and also a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Indian Academy of Management.

He has taught at the Wharton School, Copenhagen Business School, Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy; Tufts University; Nanyang Technological University; Indian Institutes of Management (IIM – Ahmedabad and Calcutta); Indian Institute of Foreign Trade; XLRI (India); Rutgers business programs in Beijing, Shanghai, and Singapore; and Lubin School of Business, as well as conducted executive seminars on four continents.

Previously, Professor Contractor was a Tata Administrative Service Executive with the international arm of the Tata Group, one of India’s largest conglomerates.

He has been a Fulbright Fellow and a Unilever Fellow, and he has worked on projects for UNCTAD.
