Alex L. Mainardi

Alex L. Mainardi is an author, podcaster, and activist living in Parma, Italy. Passionate about mythology and archaeology, they have been writing fiction since 2008. In 2018, they conceived, created, and currently direct Casa Ailus, a collective of fantasy artists with whom they publish illustrated books.

Living with a rare genetic condition, Friedreich's Ataxia, they have always combined their publishing work with a passion for Cosplay (begun in 2003) and activism for Independent Living. They are the creator and host of the Cosplability movement and podcast, through which they break down stereotypes as well as physical and mental barriers across social media and nerd conventions —proving that autonomy and creativity have no limits... wheelchair included!
