Robert (Bob) Munroe

Born in Biddeford, ME and grew up in New England. I was the first in my family to graduate college (4 year scholarship) which is now the UMass-Lowell. Most of my career was in the Federal Systems Division of IBM on OAO, Gemini, Saturn V LVDC/LVDA, and the MOL before transferring to commercial divisions. After retiring I worked for Motorola in the Semiconductor Division. I retired from both companies as Technical Staff Member.

I started writing short stories and now a novel after my late wife died. The writing has been a catharsis and enabled me to draw on 90 years of life for material. The book "An Engineer's Space Race Stories and More" covers my start in working on space programs in 1961 and covers details of some of the challenges of the first US telescope in the sky (OAO), the Gemini program with stories of the challenges, and then the Saturn V computer (the launch rocket for the Apollo program). Never before back stories are included in my book. My hope is that readers will find my latest book a novel called "A Woman Named Benita". It is a love story between two Dallas people; one a successful female technical executive and the other a retired engineer. They differ in age and religion. Is there enough in common that they can find common ground in a society that still has 20th century biases? I think you will find their story interesting as it is not a fairy tale romance, but based on real life.
