Pamela R. Bennett

Pamela R. Bennett grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she marveled at both the city’s magnificent trees and its social organization, motivating her path into the social sciences, first at LSU and then at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. A sociologist, she investigates questions about group disparities with respect to race, ethnicity, immigrant generation, and social class in the domains of education and residential space, because both are mechanisms for reducing or exacerbating inequality. She holds the position of Professor in the School of Public Policy at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
