Byron McCauley is the co-author of “Hope Interrupted” with Jennifer Mooney. He has been an award-winning reporter, editor and columnist writing about the intersection of politics, race, social justice and free enterprise. As a communications executive, he has helped businesses and nonprofits tell brand stories and with power and clarity.
The son of a single mother who was a high school teacher in Louisiana, Byron has also worked in education advocacy and reform, lobbying state legislators and crafting national policy. He has seen too many bright students fall through the cracks because of lack of adequate support and resources.
He holds a master's degree in Public Relations from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a bachelor's degree in Journalism from Louisiana Tech University. He completed the Strategic Marketing Management Program at Harvard Business School. Byron has served as a fourth-grade tutor and has been active with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. He is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He and his wife, Jill, have three daughters.
In his spare time, Byron spends time with his family, plays golf, practices yoga and goes on urban hikes.
