Pankaj Kumar

A doctor by profession and  an author by accident, Dr Pankaj has spent majority of his life in treating near-death situations in his emergency and critical care practice. He has often witnessed  the saddest  moments of the patients' life even as he fought the battle for them against a terrifying, seemingly unbeatable foe, the  death. Today, in current era, amongst the dense maze of medical consumerism, communication, detailed documentation and legal complexities, he realized that  doctors are increasingly being engaged in illogical and contrary conflicts, which, in reality, are mundane in front of the actual disease and the real point of intention, that is 'The Treatment of patient'.

Consequently he feels that there is erosion of the art of medicine, which has instead been replaced by consumerism and medico-legal stress. Patients, as consumers, remain oblivious and ignorant not only about their own loss, but also to the real issues.

The author genuinely hopes to ignite a constructive discussion among masses, policy makers, doctors and legal systems to achieve an ideal health care delivery system. The real problem lies in excessive consumerism in medicine globally and needs to be tackled.
