Richard L. Kravitz, MD, MSPH is Distinguished Professor of Medicine at UC Davis and Director of the University of California Center, Sacramento. A general internist, he sees patients and supervises trainees in both outpatient and inpatient settings. He has led studies examining patients' expectations and requests for care, direct-to-consumer advertising of prescription drugs, and aligning care with patient's individual needs, values, and preferences. The author or co-author of over 300 academic papers, he has twice won Academy Health's Article-of-the-Year award and was the 2013 recipient of the George Engle Award for Outstanding Research Contributing to the Theory, Practice, and Teaching of Effective Heath Care Communication and Related skills.
