Mark Allen Atterson

Mark started his 34-year law enforcement career as a Military Policeman. He was with the San Mateo, California, Police Department for a time; the Federal Bureau of Prisons as an Internal Affairs Investigator and Captain; the United States Marshal's Service (JPATS); and even worked several years with the Oklahoma City's FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). Mark officially retired from law enforcement in 2011, even though he intermittently assisted the McClain County Sheriff's Department in Oklahoma, and as a CLEET instructor.

Mark's extensive law enforcement career, in particular in the field of criminal investigations, have assisted him greatly is his works, whether it is in genealogy and historical research, or discovering the truths found in the Bible. It was and is such a joy for Mark to research each and every investigative avenue. Each book is filled with evidence and stories that will excite and tantalize the reader on every page. His books on the Bible go far beyond denominational restrictions and his family books beyond his immediate family with rich and intriguing stories and facts.

Mark currently resides at his home just outside of Purcell, Oklahoma, with his wife Renita. His children include Laura (Tommy), an Air Force Veteran, Julia (Jared Lapsley, an Army Veteran), son John (Katie), a Staff Sergeant currently with the Air Force, and daughters Kara, and Rebekah (Andrew Wheeler, who is also currently in the Air Force). Also, a child Amber Jane Atterson, who died July 25, 1989, in Memphis, Tennessee. Mark's Grandchildren include Nathan, Alexander, William, Benny, and Trinia.

Mark is a family researcher, genealogist, and historian. He is a Life Member of the Son's of the American Revolution, currently assigned as their local Norman, Oklahoma Chapter's President. He is a member of the Society of the War of 1812; the Descendants of Mexican War Veterans; Son's of Confederate Veterans; and is a Life Member and Senior Vice Camp Commander of the Son's of Union Veterans. Mark is also a Life Member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, a Life Member of the NRA, American Legion, and a member of the National Correctional Officer's Association.
