Following a year's experience as a commis chef and barman, Geoffrey Paris studied an HND in Hotel Management at Birmingham College of Food & Domestic Arts, working each summer in Europe either as a chef or barman. Then he moved to Newquay in Cornwall as a trainee hotel manager, after which most of his hotel management life has been spent in Devon & Cornwall, primarily in Torquay, where he lives. Now in his sixties, Geoffrey has semi-retired from hotel management and now works in a Torbay hotel as a receptionist. He has also taken up ceramics, for which he holds a weekly workshop. Geoffrey actually started writing his memoirs about 14 years ago, but due to the hard work and long hours working, became a bit sporadic! It is thanks to being furloughed that he has completed his exciting memoirs of hotel life.
