Dr. Rick Quinn

The founding director of Docs4GreatApes, Dr. Rick Quinn serves on both the Canadian and global boards of the Jane Goodall Institute. As a veterinarian, Rick spent many years in general practice, trained as a veterinary ophthalmologist, and enjoyed five years of teaching undergraduate veterinary students, residents, and graduate students. He established the Veterinary Eye Specialists in 2002, where he continues to provide medical and surgical care for the eye problems of his animal patients. Rick is an adjunct professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada, and has lectured extensively around the world about ophthalmology and great ape conservation. An avid wildlife photographer, he has trekked through rain forests in Africa and Indonesia and has participated in numerous expeditions around the world. Rick and his wife, Diane, a family doctor, have raised four children and live in Ontario, Canada.
