Ruma Choudhury

Ruma Choudhury & Samarra St. Hilaire are both Pediatric Occupational Therapists with over 17 years of experience. They are graduates of the LIU occupational therapy BS/MS program. Ruma resides in New York City and Samarra resides in Florida. Despite living in different states their passion for the field of occupational therapy and dedication to children of varying abilities enabled them to create their first book.

Davie Goes to Occupational Therapy is a book about a child’s perspective of occupational therapy in a fun and engaging manner. A consistent message throughout Davie Goes to Occupational Therapy is “even when things are hard, we still have to try our best.”

Both Ruma and Samarra continue to provide services for the pediatric population. They plan to release more books with the goal of inspiring, encouraging, uplifting, and building confidence in children. Children should be encouraged to dream and use their imaginations to explore all the great possibilities in life. Ruma and Samarra strongly believe that it is important to build a child’s self-confidence at a very young age.

Due to being from different cultural backgrounds, Ruma and Samarra plan to make diversity a priority in all of their future books. There is beauty in our differences. These differences can be appreciated, drawing people close, while providing a learning opportunity.
