David L Howard

In writing Asbury's Courage, David was able to draw from his deep experiences as a teacher and veteran in providing guidance, counseling and service to others. He was lovingly raised by his Lebanese parents to have respect for others' cultural and religious beliefs; his strength comes from his faith in God through service to others. After beginning his formal education at Clemson University and receiving both a Master's in Education (Furman University) and Guidance and Counseling (Clemson), David began helping the inmates of South Carolina State prison system rehabilitate and earn their GEDs. He proudly served his country during Operation Desert Storm as a psychological technician. Before retiring, he served as a Army family liaison officer. After developing an understanding of the pressing social issues of the time, he furthered his devotion to service as a Licensed Master Social Worker and Mental Health Therapist for adolescents. As a former Big Brother of the year with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, David had first hand experience with the causes of joy and pain for children. After channeling his creativity from a life of service and a desire to continue, he is both humbled and excited to present to his first writing for the public, Asbury's Courage.
