Hello,
My name’s RyLee Reads. I'm a writer, publisher, designer, avid home chef, outdoorsman, and nature lover. I was born in California, USA, just outside of San Francisco. When I was 6 my parents decided to move to the mountains in Montana. It was a quaint, quiet Rocky Mountain town with a population of about 2,500 people. So small it didn't have a single stoplight. In this hidden mountain town is where I fell in love with the outdoors. I grew up hiking, camping, fishing, riding horses, motorcycles, and ATVs during the summers. While the winters I went skiing, snowboarding, and rode snowmobiles. Being high in the Rocky Mountains near the Montana/ Idaho border, we had beautiful summers but got a lot of snow during the winter. It was quite the summer paradise and winter wonderland for a kid. The property we lived on was about 10 miles outside of town right on the edge of the Rocky Mountain National Park. Living there was fantastic, we had a rustic old log cabin where I lived with my parents and 3 sisters. We had domestic animals like cats, dogs, horses, chickens, and ducks. But, we also had the wild animals that visited our home almost every day for the vegetables in our gardens, fruit in our trees, and the salt licks we had around the property. We had deer, elk, moose, bighorn sheep(rams), bears, mountain lions(puma) & much more to keep us company. It was an amazing place to grow up. I lived there until I was 19 and graduated high school. After high school, I moved to Portland, Oregon where I went to the Art Institute of Portland for Graphic Design. While attending college I also worked in a few Organic Health Food Super Markets, maybe you know them. I worked at Wild Oats and New Seasons Markets in Portland. This is where I really learned the importance of a healthy lifestyle with diet & exercise. With access to so much delicious, organic, healthy food and a nice employee discount, since I was still a student. I was really able to embrace the lifestyle & begin my passion for cooking. I enjoy cooking and gardening immensely. Growing my own food for cooking has been one of my favorite things to do in life. I feel very blessed to have had the life I did growing up, through the ups and downs, the thick and thin. I know this life can be a struggle sometimes but try to stay happy, healthy and positive. We’ll come out the other side stronger and hopefully in a better world.
Thank you for reading, stay safe and enjoy this life.
