Nilufer E Bharucha

Nilufer E. Bharucha is the Director, Diasporic Constructions of Home and Belonging Indian Diaspora Centre and Visiting Professor in Humanities, Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences, at the University of Mumbai, where she was a Senior Professor and former Head of the Department of English. She is Faculty Associate Emeritus, South Asian Studies Institute, University of the Fraser Valley, B.C., Canada and Global Faculty, Fairleigh Dickinson University, NJ, USA. Her areas of specialization are postcolonial literature, the Writing of the Parsis, Gender Studies, Diasporic Literature and Cinema. She has published two books on Rohinton Mistry: Ethnic Enclosures and Transcultural Spaces and Indian Diasporic  Literature and Cinema. She has co-edited 4 books on Indian English Writing. She has also published translations from Gujarati and Urdu and her own short-stories in English. She has been on the jury for literature awards in India and abroad. She was awarded a British Council Scholarship, a Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship, a Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute Visiting Lectureship, two DAAD Visiting Professorships at German Universities and an ICCR Rotating Chair at Muenster University, Germany.
