Gary Vonk is a life-long learner who has held senior positions in higher education and corporate leadership.

A leader in higher education, as well as a faculty member and student mentor, Dr. Vonk has taught at the upper-division university level in courses in business, management and technology. He became a university professor in January of 2007 after a career of nearly thirty years in retailing and company turnaround management where he served as CEO, President, and Senior Executive for a half dozen public and/or private companies.

Possessing start-up and turnaround business experience in a wide variety of service businesses, Dr. Vonk’s expertise lies in leading successful turnarounds while building start-ups and business transformation initiatives. A change agent with a demonstrated proficiency at leveraging strengths and gaining commitment to strategic and mission-critical objectives, he has a proven ability to lead high performance and market-driven management and financial/technical teams.

While working at private sector companies Vonk invigorated profits and liquidity while generating equity capital and directing acquisition programs for a $5B commercial and residential real estate company, a corporate merchandising services company with $100 million in sales, a $1.2B annual sales franchise automotive repair company with 2700 locations in 20 countries, and more.

Vonk received his Doctorate of Business Administration-Entrepreneurship from Walden University. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University and a Bachelor of Science in Business from San Diego State University. He has served on a number of boards of directors serving his community and supporting worthwhile programs that impact people’s lives.

He has worked in small organizations with narrow customer focus as well as international companies with locations in twenty countries.

All the while he has sought to develop an environment where success is a product of a team with mutual goals. Whether it is to get through the day to getting through the next Board meeting. The goals have always been to use the ‘people power’ to tackle the problems we face and create a team of leaders and learners who will continue to build the company.
