Linda worked as a hairstylist in Chicago and Florida. She started writing short stories and poems at a young age. Her first published work was for American Anthology books, in which several of her poems were printed and recorded.

She entertained young family members by making up and telling them stories. Later she began painting abstract art with oils and acrylic paints.
