Wei Wu

I am an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Construction Management at Lyles College of Engineering, California State University, Fresno (Fresno State). I often brag about my educational experience as I have received three degrees (B.ENG, MSc, and Ph.D.) in three different majors (Built Environment & Equipment Engineering, Environmental Change and Management, and Design/Construction/Planning) from three different countries/continents (Hunan University in China, the University of Oxford in the UK, and the University of Florida in the US).

I teach Construction Graphics, Design-Build Project Delivery, Building Information Modeling for Construction Management, Advanced Planning and Preconstruction, and Construction Management Capstone. I am a firm believer and advocator of active learning, experiential learning, multimedia learning, and project-based learning. I was recognized as the recipient of 2018 Teaching Excellence Award of the Associated Schools of Construction (Region 7) and the 2019 Provost Award in Innovation of Fresno State.

My research focuses on BIM, green building and sustainable construction, cyberlearning, educational technology, and construction management/engineering education. Before my first book, I have published more than 40 scholarly articles and conference proceedings in these areas. My research has been funded by regional and federal agencies, including a recent National Science Foundation (NSF) grant on investigating Mixed Reality (MR) for career-specific competency cultivation among construction management and engineering students.

When not teaching and conducting research, I enjoy reading, cooking, golfing, and playing video games with my kids.
