Mark A. Clark

Mark A. Clark, Ph.D., is Professor of Management at the Kogod School of Business, American University in Washington, DC, where is also serves as department chair and Faculty Fellow of the Institute for Applied Artificial Intelligence.

Dr. Clark has over 30 years of experience in organizational research and action consulting, including leadership development, strategic planning, workforce analysis, teams, knowledge networks, facilitation, diversity training, and program design. He investigates these topics in a variety of organizations, including corporate settings, medical institutions, sports teams, high-tech companies, and entrepreneurial ventures. He has published and presented over 100 scholarly papers in top academic outlets. His ability to translate research into practice has led him to consult with a wide range of private and public sector clients, including healthcare institutions, Fortune 500 companies, entrepreneurial ventures, public sector institutions, and professional sports teams.

Dr. Clark's books include "Six Paths to Leadership: Lessons from Successful Executives, Politicians, Entrepreneurs, and More" (2021) and "Design Thinking with Artificial Intelligence: Practical Tools for Business Innovation" (2026).

Before earning his Ph.D., Dr. Clark gained a variety of experiences in public and private sector management, as a consultant, program director, trainer, treatment specialist, and board member. He has held visiting scholar appointments at Instituto de Empresa (Madrid, Spain), ISCTE (Lisbon, Portugal), and Erasmus University (Rotterdam, Netherlands). He earned his master’s degree from Ohio State University and his doctorate from Arizona State University.
