Judith Ellis

Professor Judith Ellis OBE is a registered nurse who has had an extraordinary 42 year career.

Having trained as a Nightingale Nurse at St Thomas’s Hospital London in the 1970s she initially pursued a clinical career in paediatric nursing but then went on to have many different health service related roles, including being: a University Lecturer; Senior Civil Servant; a Director at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, London; a University Pro Vice Chancellor/Executive Dean; a Council Member and the Interim Chair of the largest Healthcare Regulator in the world; and she ended her paid career as the Chief Executive of a Medical Royal College. Throughout her life she has undertaken health related charity activity and for over 20 years she has used any free time to volunteer in Low Income Countries. In retirement she continues to Chair a global health partnership charity. She has many qualifications, including a doctorate, is a member of many prestigious organisations, and as well as the Queen awarding her an MBE in 1998 and an OBE in 2019, she has received numerous nursing and health service related Awards.
