Who doesn't enjoy a good story? Game for anything, adventurous, fun loving, passionate about young people and with an infectious sense of humour, Ruth Taylor- Stott has travelled extensively and made life long friends the world over. Some of her adventures in foreign countries were hair raising, others hilarious.
Having taught for almost 4 decades, at every level from age 6 to 18, Ruth made her subject teaching come alive. Years later her past pupils still recall the fascinating stories she wove into her lessons. Whether she was Dolly Parton in the staff concert, camping or climbing, playing in a hockey match or visiting a bereaved family, Ruth put heart and soul into every activity. Born in Cape Town, she studied at the Cape Town Teachers' Training College, the University of Cape Town, Pietermaritzburg and at the Rosebank Bible College in Johannesburg.
Ruth's pioneering spirit took her away from home at age 19 to become a founder member of staff at Treverton Boys' Prep School. A miracle unfolded when her family risked hiding a little black baby dying of malnutrition, in their home in a segregated area during the cruel days of Apartheid in South Africa.
Now retired and happily married, Ruth is frequently invited to give illustrated travel talks and she and her husband still enjoy travelling to exotic destinations and forming new friendships.
