Jean-Jacques Degroof, PhD, is a venture investor as well as an active philanthropist in the areas of entrepreneurial education and aging. He started his career in the financial services industry and then transitioned into academia, investigating the commercialization of academic research. This shift led to his facilitating the launch and growth of technology startups in the US and in Europe, several of which are now quoted on stock exchanges or acquired by larger corporations. He earned degrees from the Catholic University of Louvain and later an MSc and PhD degree from the MIT Sloan School of Management. Jean-Jacques is the author of “From the Basement to the Dome. How MIT’s Unique Culture Created a Thriving Entrepreneurial Community,” available September 2021 from MIT Press.
